Tidbit's Dog Care Guides are here to help Australian dog owners make good, calm decisions about their dogs. This page explains who writes them, how, and what they are — and aren't.
Who writes them
Our guides are written by The Tidbit Team. They're a team effort rather than one named columnist, and they reflect Tidbit's house voice: warm, plain-spoken and honest.
How we write them
We use AI-assisted drafting, followed by human editing and primary-source verification. In practice that means a draft is prepared with the help of AI tools, then a person reviews and rewrites it for accuracy and tone, and checks the health-related claims against primary sources before it's published.
For parasite, health and product claims we prefer primary and authoritative Australian sources — for example APVMA-approved product information and labels, the Australian Veterinary Association, and university veterinary teaching hospitals. Where a guide makes a specific claim, we cite where it came from in a "Sources & further reading" section, and we record the date we reviewed each source.
What these guides are not
- They are general information, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan for your dog.
- They do not give doses or tell you how much of a product to give — always follow the specific product label.
- They are not "vet reviewed" or "medically reviewed", and we don't claim they are. For advice about your individual dog, talk to your vet.
Getting it right
We update guides when product information or best-practice advice changes. If you think something here is out of date or incorrect, we'd genuinely like to know — email hello@tidbit.com.au and we'll take a look.
